Ip Man
ok bet some of u guys still haven't seen the movie IP MAN so i decided to post it as my first class related entry haha hope u guys enjoy it even it's a short clip of the movie because i did wuahahaha. (should win the best movie award sia XD)
few things u can talk abt:
-lighting : dim lighting in the scene of IP man.. creates a more sinister and 'underground' atmosphere. makes it seem like as if no one else knows abt the fight/training. Makes the atmosphere very serious - main character not to be fooled around with.
-Colours : Monochrome (black and white) adds onto the dim lighting and the sinister/mysterious effect. Can also at times be used for scenes regarding a "flashback" of memory or something that has happened in history.
-sound effects : exaggerated hitting and breaking of bones sounds. Done to inject feelings of "pain" into audiences/viewers. Allows the audience to "feel" or to sympathise with the victims and gives the audiences a respond of "OW!" or may even cause some audiences to feel "weak in the ankles"

lightings and sounds play a very large role in communication. indeed, an action speaks a thousand words. the director has taken conscientious effort in getting out such a mysterious suspense effect without failing to get the message of IP man being invincible.
mm.. 1 vs 10 abit too fierce. 1 vs 1 already very taxing. Given that he is fighting against 10 martial artist. Lol. Its entertaining to see Ip man beat the crap outta them but logical thinking its not possible. haha but non the less, its a great movie. =)
Yea this is a good show. Its one of those shows that will give you the "spur of the moment" to learn martial arts. My dad just bought the Ip Man dvd and some other bruce lee dvds. Both are great shows.
these subtle communication using lights and sounds narrates a story akin to that of war ravaged China in the past. it creates a down-and-out effect cast upon Ip Man so as to make the audiences relate to his story.
